Did You Know About This Albany Food Club? Genius!
I always hear how hard it is to meet people in the area. You don’t want to meet people out at a bar late at night but it’s hard to find or join new groups. I found one that put two of my favorite things together!
My routine internet scouring usually involves a stop at our main three Reddit feeds (Albany, Schenectady, and Troy) and I’m so happy there was a post about the Albany Food Readers Book Club on the Albany Reddit this week.
According to the post, they’ve been around for about two years and always looking for new members. They have a partnership with Honest Weight Food Co-Op which gives them the perfect meeting space. The books are chosen on a 2-month basis and, as they say in the post, “We read books that deal with food, the environment, sustainability, history, cooking, agriculture etc. then we meet as a group and discuss the reading over food and drinks.”
For May, they’re asking for a vote and it’s between Sous Chef: 24 on the Line by Michael Gibney and The Devil the Kitchen: Sex, Pain, Madness, and the Making of a Great Chef by Marco Pierre White. You can find more information and vote on the next book on their website (AlbanyFoodReaders.Wordpress.com).
