At first, “Dive Bar” seems like a not very nice place to go but the times have changed and with it, the meaning of the phrase dive bar. If you don’t want to get super fancy but you want to have a great time, take a look at these Capital Region dive bars that were ranked the highest.
The website New York Upstate grabbed the list, put it together and here are the local bars that made the list. If there are any that I missed, let me know!
28 –Desperate Annie’s, Saratoga Springs: Seriously, just check out their website. It’s stuck in 2007 but apparently hasn’t hurt business. Check out their MySpace!

11- New Madison Grille, Albany
Here’s the thing, we have a ton of great places here in the 518 and only 5 of them made the list? I can’t speak for all of them, I haven’t visited all of them but one of my favorites is 20 North Broadway (“20 North”) in Schenectady and it’s not on the list? With their wings? Granted, this list was based on Yelp which has a skewed system anyway but what are we missing here? Let me know!
