Schenectady Gazette Holiday Parade Details

Every year, Schenectady’s Holiday Parade is one of the best and this year it’s under new management.

The 49th parade is scheduled for November 18th, Saturday at 5:00PM in Downtown Schenectady and instead of being run by the Capital Region Chamber of Commerce they have now partnered with The Daily Gazette. This year’s parade will be known as “Parade of Lights: 125 Years of Schenectady.”

You can see local musicians, businesses, schools, animals, local fire and police departments, floats, and people dressed as holiday characters beginning the journey at Schenectady County Community College. The parade then continues up State St, past Proctors Theatre until it turns left on Lafayette Street and ends shortly afterwards. The Grand Marshall of this year’s parade has been named as Robert J. McCormack, CEO and President of TrustCo Bank Corp. Extra security will be in place for this event in hopes to keep it a safe, family-friendly welcome to the holiday season.
