Update on Schenectady Central Park Playground

If you’d been to Schenectady’s Central Park, you may have been surprised to see a lack of playground equipment with no explanation why. Well, thankfully there’s an update and the equipment is coming soon!

I’m from Schenectady and my childhood would have been nothing without the playground equipment in Central Park. The few swings that kind of pinched your leg when you sat down, that weird slide that just looked like glass at an angle and for some reason had no ladder, that was my everything. So obviously, I was torn up inside when I had heard that the playground equipment had been taken down. Luckily, that’s not the end of it.

Rich Patierne, chairman of the city’s Recreational Advisory Commission spoke at a City Council meeting, according to The Daily Gazette, and spoke about the future of the playground. They opted to prioritize the playground and plan on spending at least $120,000 on the new equipment. Their hope is for a mid-September completion but no word on what exactly will be built in that place. Also discussed for Central Park, improvements to Schenectady Little League, the Central Park Rose Garden, security cameras and more!
