I’m from Schenectady so I always knew that there was a ton of stuff to do but since Rivers Casino came here, it seems as if the rest of the Capital Region is catching on.
CDTA has paired up with Schenectady city officials to create the Electric City Trolley. This trolley will be a free service to link some of Downtown Schenectady’s most popular attractions in a safe and easy way.

According to CBS6, you will be able to use the Transfinder app “CityFinder” to find out where the trolley is and when you can expect it next. The service will be running every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
I love this idea. Between this trolley, Uber coming in the next few weeks, Fare (on-demand drivers, based in Schenectady), and the yellow cabs that already exist, I hope that makes the prices a little more comparable. It’s going to be hard to beat this trolley service being free but if you’re looking to go anywhere downtown.
The service began yesterday, June 22nd, and every Thursday through Saturday the trolley begins at 4:00PM and ends at 1:00AM each day, coming every 20minutes. According to the CDTA, stops include: “Rivers Casino & Resort, Mohawk Harbor, the Schenectady Public Library, Hampton Inn, The Stockade, Amtrak Station, Proctors, Little Italy, State Street, Lower Union Street, DoubleTree Hotel and Courtyard Marriott.”
