Million Dollar Beach Update
When I think summer in the Capital Region, I think Lake George and when I think summer in Lake George, I think Million Dollar Beach. So far this summer, Million Dollar Beach has been closed but there’s an update!
The water near Million Dollar Beach was found to have been contaminated with E. Coli and therefore closed as of August 2016. The state-owned beach was inspected by the Department of Environmental Conservation and according to WNYT, and they decided to delay opening the beach with the heavy rain that tends to cause an increase in E.Coli.
The agency has tested the water and after a second delay, found that it is now safe and Million Dollar Beach will open. WNYT reported that many people aren’t worried about the contamination and are happy to know that state officials are checking the water but it won’t stop them from utilizing the beach for the rest of the season.
