Best Summer Events in the Capital Region
Summer is coming faster and faster, the weather is getting warmer and warmer but you don’t want to waste it all sitting in the house. NYUpstate.com came up with the top things to do this summer based on county. I’ll give you the important ones to the Capital Region and let’s see if we agree.
Albany County: Altamont, Scottish Games (Sept 2-3)
Columbia County: New Lebanon, Lebanon Valley Speedway
Fulton County: Northville, Woodworking and Fine Arts Festival (July 14-16)
Montgomery County: Fort Hunter, Canal Days at Schoharie Crossing (July 9)
Rensselaer County: Troy, Troy Riverfest (June 17)
Saratoga County: Saratoga Springs, Saratoga Balloon and Craft Festival (June 16-18)
Schenectady County: Rotterdam Junction, CanalFest at Mabee Farm (July 15)
Schoharie County: Cobleskill, Sunshine Fair (July 29- Aug 5)
Warren County: Lake George, Lake George Music Festival (Aug 11-24)
Washington County: Schuylerville, Cardboard Boat Races at Hudson Crossing (Aug 12)
I tried to get as many as I could but you’re always welcome to click their link to read through all of the counties. Overall, I can’t really speak to most of these because I feel like to know the best thing in an area as a whole, you have to spend most of your time there or you may miss something. That being said, I’m from Schenectady and I’ve heard great things about CanalFest though I’ve never gone before so that very well may be the best thing in my county. Based on things I have done, I love our Little Italy Italian fest. It’s usually sometime in September and they partner it with St. Gregory’s Greek Fest so you can eat all of the food. Schenectady has the best Italian food in the area, that’s why we have two Italian fests in the summer! What do you think of the rest of these? Which county are you from, do you agree?
