REVIEW: 190 Grille + Cinema [PHOTOS]
One of my favorite date nights is having dinner and then going to a movie with my boyfriend. We found this place called Aimee’s Dinner & a Movie a few years ago in Glens Falls and though we didn’t make it up there much, it was really nice. There were some updates that were horribly needed, the food wasn’t the best I’ve ever had but I enjoyed the environment.
Last weekend, I went to the same place to see my Aunt’s artwork and found out that the name has changed. Aimee’s Dinner & a Movie is now the 190 Grille + Cinema (190 Glen St, Glens Falls). The overall look of the place isn’t that different but the feel of it is. Instead of just having the option of eating a meal with a movie, they opened the outside gallery area to have dinner. There’s also the bar in the back that has live music as well as the main two theaters where you can eat dinner while watching a movie. We saw Doctor Strange and it was great! There’s a full menu on less busy times and a reduced menu for busier nights (Friday/Saturday). There is a little bit of light so you’re able to see your food but since it’s a theater, any pictures I took of food were too dark so apologies for the lack of food pictures this post.
For an appetizer, I ordered the Butternut Squash & Apple soup ($5.99) and I split with 4 people eggplant fries ($6.99) & calamari ($9.99). For dinner, I was craving a burger and the Peanut Butter burger sounded too interesting to not try ($12.99) which is a burger topped with a peanut butter sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, smoked gouda & red onion. It was pretty interesting. The burger was cooked perfectly (medium-rare) and though the peanut butter sauce made me nervous it was really delicious! I ate the bacon aside from the sandwich because the peanut butter was so overwhelming I didn’t even really taste the bacon. If you want to try something different but delicious, go for it!
If 190 Grille is something you want to check out, make sure you make a reservation for the movie time you want, just check out their website. You pay for the movie tickets within the bill that has your food at the end of the movie. If you get there early, you can grab a drink at the bar and bring it into the theater with you. It’s a really great date night and if you go to a somewhat early movie, just end the night in the bar in back!
ALSO, until the end of January you can take a look at the beautiful art by local artist Chrissey Dittus. All art is on sale & some pictures can be found in the slideshow below.
