“Man cannot live by bread alone; he must have peanut butter.”

James A. Garfield

I love Peanut Butter. I like it with Jelly, I like it by itself on some bread, I like it with cinnamon and I like spoonfuls of it. I recently went to Bountiful Bread and saw that if you purchased a jar of Saratoga Peanut Butter you get a free loaf of bread. I saw this as a win/win situation. I was excited to see that there was local Peanut Butter but I had also wanted to try a loaf of bread from Bountiful BREAD. This being my first experience with Saratoga Peanut Butter I figured I’d stay pretty plain and what’s the best flavor to get then? Plain Jane Chunky!

Saratoga Peanut Butter began in 2005 and has since developed into many different flavors incorporating other dream peanut butter pairing ingredients such as maple, bananas, etc. Not only do they offer on their website the ability to order online but recipes you can make with their peanut butter that I never would have imagined like popsicles (which I may have to try). Though they don’t have a storefront, you can find the peanut butter in many local locations (listed HERE) or as I said before, by ordering yourself a personal stash online.

Saratoga Peanut Butter prides themselves on being 100% natural & gluten-free with no preservatives and no hydrogenated oils. I love when I look at the ingredients of a product and just see “Dry Roasted Peanuts, Salt.” When you open the jar there is a layer of natural, healthy oil on top. If you’ve used to peanut butter like Jif or Skippy you may not be used to seeing that; all you have to do is mix it all together and enjoy!

The only flavor I’ve tried so far is Plain Jane and it is anything but plain in regards to its flavor. I usually enjoy chunky versus creamy peanut butter but this is a mix of both so the chunks don’t destroy my bread. The chunks aren’t too big and leave it creamy enough to spread but chunky enough to have to chew the peanuts. As for taste, it’s delicious. It tastes like peanuts, nothing more, nothing less which is just what you’re looking for in an all-natural peanut butter.

Check out all of their flavors, I’ve seen them recently at the Schenectady Greenmarket at Proctors so you can taste some of the flavors before you order. Each jar is about $9.00 and they come is so many flavors with Adirondack Jack being their number one bestseller according to their website. Adirondack Jack is “A beautiful Combination of our delicious Almond Butter, blended with our famous Plain Jane Peanut Butter, deep and luscious red cranberries, some omega rich flax seeds, a few heart healthy sunflower seeds for crunch, a drizzle of pure clover honey and finished off with a hint of cinnamon.” I can’t list all of the flavors but I recommend reading through them all before you make your final decision. Let me know what you think & what flavor I should try next!
